IAU COMMISION 27 UNPUBLISHED DATA FILE N0 147 17 pages, including cover sheet May, 1985 BVRI PHOTOMETRY FOR 22 LATE-TYPE VARIABLE STARS IN 1984 Joel A. Eaton Astronomy Department Indiana University Bloomington, IN 47405 USA Twenty-two late-type stars (12 RS CVn binaries, 6 other chromospherically active stars, TX Psc (N irregular), HD 35155 (UV spectrum variable), and 5 Cet (ellipsoidal variable?)) have been observed at Kitt Peak National Observatory in two sessions in 1984. This program was essentially a repeat of one carried out in fall, 1980, for which the data have been given in file IAU27.RAS - 121 (Breger 1979). The first session covered March 31-April 13 (UT); the second, September 14-30. During the first session RS CVn was observed extensively, and the data for it will be presented as a separate data file. During the second session, V444 Cyg was observed extensively. The data for it will likewise be presented elsewhere. In each instance the single channel photometer was equipped with an RCA C31034A photomultiplier tube and a standard set of glass filters to approximate the BVRI system (Cape R and I -- Cousins 1976a,b 1978; see also Bessel 1979). Since different photomultiplier tubes were used during the two runs, transformations to the standard system were determined separately from observations of standards stars takem from a list compiled by M. Bessel and provided to me by Mrs. J.V. Barnes. Standard stars were observed on two nights in the spring and on three in the fall, and the transformation equations derived are given in Table 2. The program stars observed and the comparison and check stars used are given in Table 1. Also listed there are the observed V magnitudes and colors of the comparison and check stars, measured on the nights on which transformations were determined. An observation consisted of the filter sequence irvbbvri, at typically 5 sec per filter, with the midpoint of the sequence serving as the time of observation. Differential photometry for the pro gram stars is listed in Tables 3-25. It has been corrected for atmospheric extinction and tfansformed to the standard system. References Bessel, M.S. 1979, Pub.
