IX/43 1SXPS Swift X-ray telescope point source catalogue (Evans+ 2014) ================================================================================ 1SXPS: A deep Swift X-ray telescope point source catalogue with light curves and spectra Evans P.A., Osborne J.P., Beardmore A.P., Page K.L., Willingale R., Mountford C.J., Pagani C., Burrows D.N., Kennea J.A., Perri M., Tagliaferri G., Gehrels N. =2013yCat.9043....0E =2014ApJS..210....8E ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: X-ray sources ; Surveys Mission_Name: Swift Keywords: Catalogs ; Surveys ; X-rays: observations ; Methods: data analysis Abstract: We present the 1SXPS (Swift-XRT Point Source) catalogue of 151,524 X-ray point-sources detected by the Swift-XRT in 8 years of operation. The catalogue covers 1905 square degrees distributed approximately uniformly on the sky. We analyze the data in two ways. First we consider all observations individually, for which we have a typical sensitivity of ~3e-13 erg.cm^-2^s^-1` (0.3-10 keV). Then we co-add all data covering the same location on the sky: these images have a typical sensitivity of ~9e-14 erg cm^-2^s^-1^ (0.3-10 keV). Our sky coverage is nearly 2.5 times that of 3XMM-DR4, although the catalog is a factor of ~1.5 less sensitive. The median position error is 5.5" (90% confidence), including systematics. Our source detection method improves on that used in previous XRT catalogues and we report >68,000 new X-ray sources. The goals and observing strategy of the Swift satellite allow us to probe source variability on multiple timescales, and we find ~30,000 variable objects in our catalog. For every source we give positions, fluxes, time series (in four energy bands and two hardness ratios), estimates of the spectral properties, spectra and spectral fits for the brightest sources, and variability probabilities in multiple energy bands and timescales. Description: The 1SXPS catalogue is a point-source catalogue built from all Swift-XRT Photon Counting mode data of at least 100-s in duration gathered prior to 2012 October 12 (Swift was launched in 2004 November). It contains positions, fluxes, spectral details, variability information and a flag indicating the reliability of the detection for 151,524 objects. Various values (e.g. the count rates) are given in 4 bands: Total = 0.3-10 keV Soft = 0.3-1 keV Medium = 1-2 keV Hard = 2-10 keV The source detection was performed in each of these bands independently, and the results combined to give this final catalogue. Note (6): In a small number of cases where the Bayesian approach was used to derive the parameter, the mean value lay outside the 1-{sigma} confidence interval. In these cases the positive error may be negative, and the negative error may be positive. Note (7): a value of -1 for positive error or +1 for negative error means that the error was unconstrained. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: xcor.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 5 A5 --- --- [1SXPS] 7- 22 A16 --- 1SXPS Unique 1SXPS ID (JHHMMSS.S+DDMMSS) 24- 68 A45 --- Name Designation of the source in the external catalog (ExtCat_ID) 70- 77 A8 --- Cat Catalog containing the matched source (Catalog) 79- 84 F6.1 arcsec r [0/1081] distance between the 1SXPS source and external catalog source (Distance) 86- 94 F9.5 deg RAdeg J2000 right ascension of the source in the external catalog (RA) 96-104 F9.5 deg DEdeg J2000 declination of the source in the external catalog (Decl) 106-110 F5.1 arcsec Err90 [0/680]? 90% confidence radial uncertainty in the external catalog position, including any systematic error. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ (End) Phil A.
