Beginning of ReadMe : J/A+A/458/341 LSBG in Arecibo HI Strip Survey (Trachternach+, 2006) ================================================================================ An optical search for Low Surface Brightness Galaxies in the Arecibo HI Strip Survey. Trachternach C., Bomans D.J., Haberzettl L., Dettmar R.-J. <Astron. Astrophys. 458, 341 (2006)> =2006A&A...458..341T ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Galaxies, optical ; Galaxies, photometry ; Photometry, surface ; Morphology Keywords: galaxies: general - galaxies: fundamental parameters - galaxies: statistics Abstract: In order to estimate the contribution of low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies to the local (z<=0.1) galaxy number density, we performed an optical search for LSB candidates in a 15.5deg^2^ part of the region covered by the 65deg^2^ blind Arecibo HI Strip Survey (AHISS) Description: The TBHD sample is based on B-band observations using with the focal reducer WWFPP at the 1.23m telescope at Calar Alto and R-band observations using CAFOS at Caha 2.2m. It contains 306 galaxies within 14.3deg^2^ in a region targeted at an area covered by the Arecibo HI Strip Survey. The galaxies were selected to have an apparent minimum diameter of 18-arcsec at the limiting surface brightness of approximately 25.2mag/arcsec^2^.
