Combining the new data with optical data, we derived photometric estimates of the distribution of global metallicity [M/H] of individual red giant stars from their V-Ks colours. Our results are consistent with the metallicities of red giant branch (RGB) stars obtained from CaII triplet spectroscopy, once the age effects are considered. Description: Observations of Leo II were carried out in 2005 April 19-20 using the wide-field NIR camera WFCAM at the UKIRT telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii.
