Beginning of ReadMe : J/ApJ/669/L33 Halpha emission sources in h and chi Per (Currie+, 2007) ================================================================================ Discovery of gas accretion onto stars in 13 Myr old h and chi Persei. Currie T., Kenyon S.J., Balog Z., Bragg A., Tokarz S. <Astrophys. J., 669, L33-L36 (2007)> =2007ApJ...669L..33C ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Clusters, open ; Infrared sources ; Accretion ; Photometry, infrared Keywords: accretion, accretion disks - open clusters and associations: individual (NGC 869, NGC 884) - planetary systems: protoplanetary disks Abstract: We report the discovery of accretion disks associated with  13Myr old intermediate/low-mass stars in h and chi Persei. Optical spectroscopy of  5000 stars in these clusters and a surrounding halo population reveal 32 A-K stars with Halpha emission. Matching these stars with 2MASS and optical photometry yields 25 stars with the highest probability of cluster membership and EW(Halpha)>=5AA. Sixteen of these sources have EW(Halpha)>=10AA. Description: We obtained Hectospec spectra of 4536 sources with V 16-19, J 14.25-16.25, and J-H 0-1.5 in chi Persei and the halo population surrounding both clusters on the 6.5m MMT telescope at Whipple Observatory during 2006 September and November. We acquired additional spectra of 710 sources near h and chi Per with the Hydra multifiber spectrograph on the WIYN 3.5m telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory. Hydra spectra were obtained during two observing runs in 2000 November and 2001 October, and include stars with V 14-17 and J 12-14.5 (S/N 10-30 typically).
