Colours and HI line observations. Sabatini S., Davies J., Van Driel W., Baes M., Roberts S., Smith R., Linder S., O'neil K. <Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc., 357, 819-833 (2005)> =2005MNRAS.357..819S ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Clusters, galaxy ; Galaxies, photometry ; H I data Keywords: galaxies: clusters: individual: Virgo Cluster - galaxies: dwarf Abstract: In order to investigate the nature of dwarf low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies we have undertaken a deep B- and I-band CCD survey of a 14-deg^2^ strip in the Virgo Cluster and applied a Fourier convolution technique to explore its dwarf galaxy population down to a central surface brightness of  26Bmag/arcsec^2^ and a total absolute B magnitude of  -10. In this paper we carry out an analysis of their morphology, (B-I) colours and atomic hydrogen content. Description: The optical data that we use in this paper are part of the 2.5-m Isaac Newton Telescope Wide Field Camera (INT WFC) survey of the Virgo Cluster (see paper I, Sabatini et al., 2003MNRAS.341..981S, for further details). Here we present results from the west-east B- and i-band strip in the cluster, extending from the centre of the cluster (identified as M87) eastwards for 7deg, with a total area of 14deg^2^. This region of the cluster is part of the dynamical unit named cluster A (M87), excluding members of other units like cluster B, clouds M and W.
