Beginning of ReadMe : J/A+A/392/851 QSOs in the M3 field (Meusinger+, 2002) ================================================================================ QSOs from the variability and proper motion survey in the M3 field. Meusinger H., Scholz R.-D., Irwin M., Lehmann H. <Astron. Astrophys. 392, 851 (2002)> =2002A&A...392..851M ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Active gal. nuclei ; Galaxies, Seyfert ; QSOs ; Photometry, UBV ; Redshifts Keywords: galaxies: active - galaxies: Seyfert - galaxies: statistics - quasars: general Abstract: We present results from a variability and proper motion (VPM) search for QSOs in the field around M3. The VPM search is demonstrated to be powerful technique for efficiently finding QSOs without major selection effects with regard to the spectral energy distribution. Remarkably, the properties of the VPM QSOs do not significantly differ from those of samples from more conventional optical search techniques. The lightcurves of the QSOs from the resulting sample provide an interesting data set for the statistical investigation of QSO long-term variability. Description: Two lists are presented for altogether 181 QSOs/Sey1s/NELGs in a field of about 10 square degrees centered on the globular cluster M3. All listed objects were unambiguously identified with starlike sources from a variability and proper motion (VPM) study based on a large number of digitised plates from the Tautenburg Schmidt telescope with a time-baseline of three decades. The first list summarises the data for 74 QSOs/Sey1s and 3 Narow Emission Line Galaxies (NELGs) with redshifts from spectroscopic follow-up observations with CAFOS at the 2.2m telescope of the DSAZ on Calar Alto, Spain. The data for the remaining sources, with redshifts taken from the NED, are given in the second table.
