Beginning of ReadMe : II/174 IRAS 2Jy Redshift Survey Data File (Strauss+ 1992) ================================================================================ IRAS 2Jy redshift survey data file Strauss M., Davis M., Yahil A., Huchra J.P. <Astrophys. J. Suppl. Ser. 83, 29 (1992)> =1992ApJS...83...29S =1992yCat.2174....0S ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Infrared sources ; Galaxies, IR Keywords: galaxies; distances and redshifts ; infrared: galaxies ; surveys Abstract: We present the data for a redshift survey of galaxies selected from the database of the Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS). The sample is flux limited to 1.936 Jy at 60 microns and covers 11.01 sr of the sky. It consists of 5014 objects, of which 2658 are galaxies. The remaining 2356 sources are listed in a separate table with identifications. Redshift data are also given for 212 IRAS galaxies which are not part of the complete sample, but were measured in conjunction with this project. Description: The survey contains 5014 objects selected from the IRAS database according to the criteria listed in the paper, briefly: * F60 > 1.936Jy; * F60^2^ > F12.F25; * |b| < 5deg * high source density flag at 60mum not raised. Thus, the file consists of both galaxies and Galaxian contaminants; this is explained below. It includes 2658 galaxies.
