This is the fourth exoplanet discovered with the Multi-site All-Sky CAmeRA (MASCARA), and the first of these that orbits a late-type star. Follow-up spectroscopic measurements were obtained in and out of transit with the Hertzsprung SONG telescope. Combining the MASCARA photometry and SONG radial velocities reveals a radius and mass of 1.36±0.05RJup and 4.2±0.2MJup. In addition, SONG spectroscopic transit observations were obtained on two separate nights. From analyzing the mean out-of-transit broadening function, we obtain vsini*=20.4±0.4km/s. In addition, investigating the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect, as observed in the distortion of the stellar lines directly and through velocity anoma lies, we find the projected obliquity to be λ=1.2+8.2-7.4deg, which is consistent with alignment. Although the individual uncertainties have some dependence on the flux level (which is near 30m/s at the highest and 60m/s at the lowest flux level), the overall instrumental uncertainty (σRV) is estimated to be ∼40m/s. To account for the possibility of underestimating this error, we introduced an additional jitter term during the fitting procedure. Note on tablea2.dat: All spectra were taken with the ThAr cell as reference, causing the uncertainties to be larger than the RVs reported in Table A.1, in addition to a different RV offset. The instrumental uncertainty (σRVRM) is estimated to be 50m/s. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See also: J/A+A/606/A73 : MASCARA-1 b (HD201585) light curves & spectra (Talens+, 2017) J/A+A/612/A57 : MASCARA-2 b (HD185603) light curves & spectra (Talens+, 2018) J/A+A/616/A151 : MASCARA-2b NaI + Ha absorption lines (Casasayas-Barris+, 2018) J/A+A/628/A9 : MASCARA-2b transmission spectra (Casasayas-Barris+, 2019) Byte-by-byte Description of file: tablea1.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 14 F14.6 d Time Barycentric time of mid-exposure (BJD) 18- 22 F5.1 m/s RV Radial velocity corrected for barycentric motion, RV+6000m/s -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: tablea2.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 14 F14.6 d Time Barycentric time of mid-exposure (BJD) 17- 22 F6.1 m/s RVRM Radial velocity corrected for barycentric motion, RVRM+15200m/s -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: photom.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 21 F21.17 h Time Time from mid-transit 23- 40 F18.16 --- Flux Binned flux 44- 64 F21.19 --- e_Flux Error in binned flux (incl. jitter term) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgements: Maria Hjorth, hjorth(at)phys.au.dk
