J/A+A/551/L8 Chromospheric activity of field stars (Pace, 2013)

Chromospheric activity as age indicator. Pace G. <Astron. Astrophys. 551, L8 (2013)> =2013A&A...551L...8P 2013A&A...551L...8P
ADC_Keywords: Stars, nearby ; Stars, dwarfs ; Stars, ages ; Combined data Keywords: Stars: activity Description: Compilation of S-index measurements available in the literature cross-correlated with the CDS catalog. The S-index is a measure of the strength of the chromospheric emission in the core of the CaII H and K lines, and it is a proxy for chromospheric activity. Its conversion into logR'HK is also reported, along with temperature, age and metallicity from the CDS. (1995ApJ...438..269B 1995ApJ...438..269B). When both are available, the former is used. Note (2): The conversion of the S-index into logR'HK (2) is made following Noyes et al. (1984ApJ...279..763N 1984ApJ...279..763N): conversion into flux, subtraction of the photospheric contribution, division by the bolometric flux. The B-V value used is obtained from the effective temperature by reverting the calibration of Casagrande et al. (2010A&A...512A..54C 2010A&A...512A..54C). Only for the Sun, the logR'HK values are taken directly from Mamajek and Hillenbrand (2008ApJ...687.1264M 2008ApJ...687.1264M). Note (3): The Geneva-Copenhague Survey (GCS) version used here is that of Casagrande et al. (2011A&A...530A.138C 2011A&A...530A.138C, see also Cat. V/130). The adopted ages are the BASTI expectation ages, and the 2σ error on their value is the difference between the 84% and the 16% value (see appendix A therein in Casagrande et al., 2010A&A...512A..54C 2010A&A...512A..54C) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: sindices.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 20 A20 --- Name Name of the star 22- 23 I2 h RAh Right Ascension J2000 (hours) 25- 26 I2 min RAm Right Ascension J2000 (minutes) 28- 35 F8.5 s RAs [0/60] Right Ascension J2000 (seconds) 39 A1 --- DE- Declination J2000 (sign) 40- 41 I2 deg DEd Declination J2000 (degrees) 43- 44 I2 arcmin DEm Declination J2000 (minutes) 46- 52 F7.4 arcsec DEs [0/60] Declination J2000 (seconds) 55- 60 F6.3 0.1nm Smin Lowest measured S-index value. 63- 68 F6.3 0.1nm Smax Highest measured S-index value. 72- 90 A19 --- Ref References for the S-index measurements (G1) 94- 98 F5.3 0.1nm S1 ?
