The IAU commission 30 lists of RV standard stars are too bright and not dense enough. We describe the selection criteria due to the RVS constraints for building an adequate full-sky list of at least 1000 RV standards from catalogues already published in the literature. Description: Table 2 is the preliminary list of radial velocity standard stars built for the calibration and zero-point of the Gaia Radial Velocity Spectrometer (RVS). The stars are selected within the IAU Commision 30 lists of RV standards, and 3 catalogues available at CDS: Nidever et al. (2002, Cat. J/ApJS/141/503); Nordstrom et al. (2004A&A...418..989N 2004A&A...418..989N, Cat. V/117); Famaey et al. (2005, J/A+A/430/165). Table 2 provides: Hipparcos and corresponding HD/DM identifiers; Hipparcos positions (J2000); Hipparcos photometric data (V, B-V, V-I); Simbad spectral types; and corresponding RV data: from the IAU Commission 30 RV standards, and from the 3 above catalogues: Nidever (RV; time span), Nordstrom (RV, number of measurements, time span), and Famaey (RV, number of measurements, time span). The stars in Supplementary list have less good environment criteria than Main list, or sometimes only 2 RV measurements when taken from the Nordstrom or Famaey Catalogues. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgements: Francoise Crifo, francoise.crifo(at)obspm.fr
