ADC_Keywords: Galactic plane ; Radio sources ; Surveys ; Radio continuum Keywords: catalogues - surveys - methods: data analysis - radio continuum: ISM - Galaxy: general Description: The MGPS-2 (second epoch Molonglo Galactic Plane Survey) was carried out with the Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope at a frequency of 843MHz and with a restoring beam of 45"x45"csd|δ|, making it he highest resolution large scale radio survey of the southern Galactic plane. It covers the range |b|<10° and 245<l<365°; it is the Galactic counterpart to the SUMSS (Cat. VIII/81) which covers the southern sky (δ←30°, |b|>10°). This catalogue (15-Aug-2007) consists of 48850 compact sources, made by fitting elliptical gaussians in the MGPS-2 mosaics to a limiting peak brightness of 10mJy/beam. We used a custom method (described in the associated publication) to remove extended sources from the catalogue. Positions in the catalogue are accurate to 1-2". See for access to the mosaic images. Note (1): Positional uncertainties are calculated from the quadratic sum of the MOST calibration using Equations (1) and (2) of the paper. Note (2): If the fitted major axis size exceeds the beam size by more than 2.33σ(θM), the major axis size after deconvolution from the MOST beam is given in arcseconds. Note (3): The naming scheme for MGPS-2 mosaics is JHHMMMDD indicating the J2000 RA and Dec of the mosaic centre. The original mosaics are available online at In the case of duplicate matches the mosaic name quoted is that used for the fit which is chosen to be included in the catalogue. Note (4): When the source appears in more than one image, the source parameters are those of the most reliable fit.
