VIII/2 Molonglo Reference Catalog of Radio Sources (Large+ 1981)

Molonglo Reference Catalog of Radio Sources Large M.I., Mills B.Y., Little A.G., Crawford D.F., Sutton J.M. <Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc., 194, 693 (1981)> =1981MNRAS.194..693L
ADC_Keywords: Radio sources Description: The Molonglo Reference Catalog of Radio Sources results from a 408-MHz survey observations made with the Molonglo Radio Telescope (Australia) between 1968 and 1978. The survey covers 7.85sr of the sky between the declinations -85° and +18°, excluding the strip of the galactic plane (|b|≤3°). The nominal beamwidth is 2.62arcmin in right ascension and 2.86sec(δ+35.5)arcmin in declination. There are 7347 sources with flux density S≥1Jy, at which level the catalogue is substantially complete. A new version of the catalog has been done in 1990 (Cat. VIII/16). File Summary:

Note (1): An asterisk indicates that the measurements obtained from two or more independent transits were scattered more than expected. Note (2): a combination of the following: P = (or blank) point source A = slight extension E = extended C = complex M = catalogued neighbour N = uncatalogued neighbour Note (3): Cross-references exist with the following catalogs: P = Parkes catalogues (see Cat. VIII/15) T = Individual comment in the paper S = Schilizzi and McAdam (1975MmRAS..79....1S) M = Clarke, Little and Mills (1976AuJPA..40....1C) C = Cameron (1971MNRAS.152..439C) R = Robertson (1973AuJPh..26..403R)
History: * 12-May-1981: The catalog on 9-track magnetic tape was kindly prepared by M.I. Large (Sydney Univ.) to C. Jaschek (CDS) * 29-May-1991: Catalog renamed from VII/29 to VIII/2
