J/MNRAS/388/1185 JHKs photometry of LeoII dSph giants (Gullieuszik+, 2008)

The evolved stars of LeoII dSph galaxy from near-infrared UKIRT/WFCAM observations. Gullieuszik M., Held E.V., Rizzi L., Girardi L., Marigo P., Momany Y. <Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc., 388, 1185-1197 (2008)> =2008MNRAS.388.1185G

Combining the new data with optical data, we derived photometric estimates of the distribution of global metallicity [M/H] of individual red giant stars from their V-Ks colours. Our results are consistent with the metallicities of red giant branch (RGB) stars obtained from CaII triplet spectroscopy, once the age effects are considered. Description: Observations of Leo II were carried out in 2005 April 19-20 using the wide-field NIR camera WFCAM at the UKIRT telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. File Summary:
