Be star candidates in the Large Magellanic Cloud: the catalogue and comparison with the Small Magellanic Cloud sample. Sabogal B.E., Mennickent R.E., Pietrzynski G., Gieren W. <Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc., 361, 1055-1062 (2005)> =2005MNRAS.361.1055S
ADC_Keywords: Magellanic Clouds ; Stars, Be ; Photometry, UBVRI ; Stars, variable Keywords: stars: emission-line, Be - Magellanic Clouds Abstract: We present a catalogue with coordinates and photometric data of 2446 Be star candidates in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), based on a search of the OGLE II data base. The I-band light curves of these stars show outbursts in 24% of the sample (Type-1 stars), high and low states in 10%, periodic variations in 6% (Type-3 stars), and stochastic variations in 60% of the cases. We report on the result of the statistical study of light curves of Type-1 and Type-3 stars in the LMC, and the comparison with the previously reported results of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) sample. Note (1): Type of Be-stars as follows: 1 = Type-1 stars, showing outbursts 1/2 = Type-1 stars with luminosity jumps in their light curves 2 = Type-2 stars, showing sudden luminosity jumps (i.e. high and low states) 3 = Type-3 stars, showing periodic or near-periodic variations 4 = Type-4 stars, showing light curves similar to Galactic Be stars. Note (2): Abbreviations are: "ART" means after removing trend; "VA" means variable amplitude; "DPV" means double periodic variable; "MA" means multiple aliases; "doubtful" means that star could be a Type-1 or Type-3 star.
