Re-examining Larson's scaling relationships in Galactic molecular clouds. Heyer M., Krawczyk C., Duval J., Jackson J.M. <Astrophys. J., 699, 1092-1103 (2009)> =2009ApJ...699.1092H
ADC_Keywords: Molecular clouds ; Velocity dispersion ; Interstellar medium Keywords: ISM: clouds - ISM: kinematics and dynamics Abstract: The properties of Galactic molecular clouds tabulated by Solomon et al. (SRBY; 1987ApJ...319..730S) are re-examined using the Boston University-FCRAO Galactic Ring Survey of 13COJ=1-0 emission. These new data provide a lower opacity tracer of molecular clouds and improved angular and spectral resolution compared with previous surveys of molecular line emission along the Galactic Plane. We calculate giant molecular cloud (GMC) masses within the SRBY cloud boundaries assuming local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) conditions throughout the cloud and a constant H2 to 13CO abundance, while accounting for the variation of the 12C/13C with galactocentric radius. Description: The Boston University-FCRAO Galactic Ring Survey (GRS) imaged the 13COJ=1-0 emission between Galactic longitudes 18° and 56° and latitudes, |b|≤1° with the FCRAO 14m telescope between 1998-2005 (Jackson et al. 2006ApJS..163..145J).
