Hypervelocity stars. III. The space density and ejection history of main-sequence stars from the Galactic Center. Brown W.R., Geller M.J., Kenyon S.J., Kurtz M.J., Bromley B.C. <Astrophys. J., 671, 1708-1716 (2007)> =2007ApJ...671.1708B
ADC_Keywords: Surveys ; Galaxies, nearby ; Radial velocities ; Photometry, SDSS Keywords: Galaxy: center - Galaxy: halo - Galaxy: kinematics and dynamics - Galaxy: stellar content - stars: early-type Abstract: We report the discovery of three new unbound hypervelocity stars (HVSs), stars travelling with such extreme velocities that dynamical ejection from a massive black hole (MBH) is their only suggested origin. We also detect a population of possibly bound HVSs. Description: New observations of faint HVS candidates were obtained at the 6.5m MMT telescope with the MMT Blue Channel spectrograph on the nights of 2006 December 21-26, 2007 March 18-20, and 2007 May 14-18.
