J/ApJ/652/1068 Morphology of cool and warm infrared galaxies (Rahman+, 2006)

Probing cool and warm infrared galaxies using photometric and structural measures. Rahman N., Helou G., Mazzarella J.M. <Astrophys. J., 652, 1068-1076 (2006)> =2006ApJ...652.1068R
ADC_Keywords: Galaxies, IR ; Morphology ; Photometry, infrared Keywords: galaxies: active - galaxies: general - galaxies: spiral - galaxies: starburst - galaxies: structure Abstract: We have analyzed a sample of nearby cool and warm infrared (IR) galaxies using photometric and structural parameters. The set of measures include far-infrared color [C=log(S60um/S100um)], total IR luminosity (LFIR), radio surface brightness, and radio, near-infrared, and optical sizes. File Summary:

Note (1): Galaxy class as follows: SFGs = Low Luminosity Star Forming Galaxies LIRGs = Luminous Infrared Galaxies ULIRGs = Ultra-Luminous Infrared Galaxies Galaxies identified as [RHM2006] Class Seq, i.e. [RHM2006] SFGs 1 for NGC 4565 Note (2): Galaxies are sorted in the ascending order of FIR color, i.e. galaxy numbered 1 has the lowest FIR color, for all three luminosity classes. Note (4): Peak flux Sp in Condon, Anderson & Helou (1991ApJ...376...95C). Sp in mJy in the VLA map with the beam of VLA map, selected by "the maximum at which the source is resolved" (Wang & Helou, 1992ApJ...398L..33W). * For IRASF12224-0624 (LIRGs) Condon, Anderson & Helou (1991ApJ...376...95C) gives θMm<5arcsec2. We assume θM∼5arcsec. * For IRASF15250+3608 (ULIRGs) Condon, Anderson & Helou (1991ApJ...376...95C) gives θMm<0.3arcsec2. We assume θM∼0.3arcsec. Note (5): The following flags from Revised Bright Galaxy Catalog (RBGS) of Sanders et al. (2003, Cat. J/AJ/126/1607): P = Distance is not computed by correcting the heliocentric redshift using the cosmic attractor model, but comes from a direct primary distance measurement S = A direct secondary distance measurement V = The cosmic attractor flow model places the object within the Virgo Cluster at a distance of 15.3Mpc Note (6): The following 22 SFGs have either disturbed outer envelope or a nearby companion (after visual inspection): NGC5792, UGC12914, NGC5600, NGC5937, NGC3508, NGC4045, NGC5430, NGC3994 NGC5218, NGC0150, NGC1134, NGC1083, NGC0660, NGC5953, NGC4532, NGC5915, NGC0520, NGC2782, NGC5930, NGC2798, NGC3597, NGC1222 The following 15 LIRGs have either disturbed outer envelope or a nearby companion (after visual inspection): NGC5394, NGC5257, UGC04881, MCG+07-23-019, NGC6052, NGC6090, CGCG247-020, NGC5256, NGC7592, IRASF17132+5313, IRASF03359+1523, NGC2623, IIIZw035, NGC0034, CGCG436-030
