J/ApJ/616/71 Optical properties of SCUBA galaxies (Smail+, 2004)

The rest-frame optical properties of SCUBA galaxies. Smail I., Chapman S.C., Blain A.W., Ivison R.J. <Astrophys. J., 616, 71-85 (2004)> =2004ApJ...616...71S
ADC_Keywords: Galaxies, radio ; Photometry, infrared ; Redshifts Keywords: cosmology: observations - galaxies: evolution - galaxies: formation - infrared: galaxies Abstract: We present optical and near-infrared photometry for a sample of 96 dusty, far-infrared luminous galaxies. We have precise spectroscopic redshifts for all these galaxies, yielding a median redshift of <z≥2.2. The majority, 78, are submillimeter-detected galaxies lying at z=0.2-3.6, while the remaining 18 are optically faint µJy radio galaxies at z=0.9-3.4 that are proposed to be similarly luminous, dusty galaxies whose dust emission is too hot to be detected in the submillimeter waveband. Description: Our analysis uses new near-infrared imaging in conjunction with archival observations and published optical and near-infrared photometry to produce a catalog of optical/near-infrared colors for spectroscopically identified submm- and radio-selected sources from the surveys of Chapman et al. (2003Natur.422..695C; 2004 Cat. J/ApJ/614/671; 2005, Cat. J/ApJ/622/772). File Summary:

Note (1): Source identified as [SCB2004] SMM or [CSB2004b] RG in Simbad Note (2): In this column, CFRS03.10 is very likely a misprint for CFRS03.1 and for SMMJ105207.56+571904.7 with "LH850.18", the Name is very likely "SMMJ105155.7+572312" (note added by CDS).
