ADC_Keywords: Molecular clouds ; Stars, emission ; Stars, pre-main sequence ; Photometry, VRI ; Photometry, infrared Keywords: ISM: individual (Lynds 988) - stars: emission-line, Be - stars: individual (LkHα 324) - stars: pre-main-sequence Abstract: L988 is a large (∼0.5°x0.7°) dark cloud complex at about 600pc that contains several bright pre-main-sequence objects (such as V1331 Cyg and LkHα 321), but this paper deals in detail only with a small region on its eastern edge, near the HAeBe star LkHα 324. That star and its distant companion LkHα 324SE lie at the apex of a V-shaped area apparently excavated from the edge of L988, and are the brightest members of a small cluster containing about 50 Hα-emission stars. Description: Optical VRCIC images of the L988 cloud were obtained in 1999 October and 2003 November at the f/10 focus of the University of Hawaii (UH) 2.2m telescope on Mauna Kea. The Hα emission survey of the L988 cloud was carried out in 2001 July, 2003 August, and 2003 October with the Wide Field Grism Spectrograph (WFGS) at the same telescope. File Summary:
