Detailed Description of J/A+AS/131/141

Individual files can be fetched (via http) from here
or via ftp from: ftp://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/pub/cats/J/A+AS/131/141

The catalogue can be queried from: http://vizier.u-strasbg.fr/viz-bin/VizieR?-source=J/A+AS/131/141

This standardized document follows the rules of the Standard Description for Astronomical Catalogues. For those having to work on this catalogue using FORTRAN programs, this ReadMe file can be transformed into a f77-compliant program which reads the files making up this catalogue, in two versions: either a f77 program loading whole files into arrays, or a f77-program reading each data file line by line.

Abstract:
Using a semiclassical perturbation approach, we have calculated
electron-, proton-, and He III-impact line widths and shifts for 14 O
VII and 18 Mg XI multiplets. For O VII, perturber densities are
1017-1023cm-3 and temperatures T=100000-2000000K. For Mg XI,
perturber densities are 1018-1024cm-3 and temperatures
T=500000-5000000K. For lower perturber densities, the Stark broadening
parameters are proportional to the perturber density.

Note (1): C/FWHM gives an estimate of the maximum perturber density for which the line may be treated as isolated and tabulated data may be used Note (2): FWHM denotes Full Width at Half Maximum Note (3): A positive (resp. negative) shift is towards the red (resp. blue) Note (4): An asterisk in this column indicates that 0.1<NV<0.5, (V = collision volume); beware of the fact that the limit of validity of the impact approximation is attained for the value that follows Note (5): Values for NV>0.5 are not given, because in this case the impact approximation is no longer valid
