J/A+AS/125/329 Southern binary galaxies radial velocities (de Souza+ 1997)
Radial velocities and spectrophotometric properties of Southern Binary Galaxies de Souza R.E., de Mello D.F., dos Anjos S. <Astron. Astrophys. Suppl. Ser. 125, 329 (1997)> =1997A&AS..125..329D (SIMBAD/NED BibCode)
ADC_Keywords: Radial velocities ; Galaxies, photometry Keywords: galaxies: interactions - galaxies: stellar content Description: We present spectrophotometry of a sample of 26 Southern binary galaxies. 17 pairs were confirmed to be physically associated with typical separation of 136h-1kpc. Pairs with velocity difference {DELTA}V≥600km/s are probably not physically bound. A comparison with field galaxies suggests that galaxies in pairs tend to have a younger population probably stimulated by tidal interaction. No correlation between the young population and projected separation was found. This table contains the quantities derived from the spectral data. File Summary:

Note (1): Actually there is no quality parameter for n1741, since the spectra of this object is so rich in emission lines that the cross correlation technique could not be used.
