It contains 84 star-forming galaxies in the redshift range 0.9<z<1.8 selected from the VVDS and observed with the SINFONI/VLT integral-field spectrograph. The main aims of the MASSIV survey is to probe the kinematics and chemical properties of a significant and representative sample of high-redshift galaxies with star formation rate >5M/yr. Description: Global properties of the MASSIV sample (84 galaxies). The redshift and [OII] flux and equivalent width have been measured in optical VIMOS spectra as part of the VVDS survey. The stellar mass and star formation rate are derived from a SED fitting procedure using extensive multi-lambda photometry. File Summary:

The last (rightmost) digit characterises the quality of the redshift: 2 = 75% confidence in the redshift 3 = 95% confidence 4 = 100% confidence 9 = Single isolated emission line spectra +20 = a secondary identified target, i.e. an object which is present by chance in the spectral slit in addition of the primary target; thus the secondary object is not ensured to be fully centered within the slit
