Description: The optical observations used in this study were carried out during three observing runs, on September 6, 2003, on October 18-22, 2003 and on October 10-11, 2004, using the 1.3-m Ritchey-Cretien telescope at Skinakas Observatory, located on the island of Crete (Greece). Note (1): Object 3b in the direction of M 33, which was not detected by the automatic procedures due to its far off-axis location and thus it was not included in PMH2004, J/A+A/426/11 (see Sect. 5.2 for more details). Note (2): The limiting magnitude of the sample of stars observed in M 33 was R=14.75, while in M 31 it was 12.43. In neither case is the sample of objects observed complete to the corresponding limiting magnitude.
