ADC_Keywords: X-ray sources ; Stars, carbon ; Planetary nebulae Keywords: stars: AGB and post-AGB - stars: circumstellar matter - stars: evolution - ISM: planetary nebulae: general - infrared: stars Abstract: We investigate the evolution of oxygen- and carbon-rich AGB stars, post-AGB objects, and planetary nebulae using data collected mainly from the MSX catalogue. Magnitudes and colour indices are compared with those calculated from a grid of synthetic spectra that describe the post-AGB evolution beginning at the onset of the superwind. Description: Tables 1 to 3 contain MSX counterparts of carbon-rich stars, transition objects, and planetary nebulae, respectively. The main original catalogues used in the search are: Loup et al. (1993, Cat. J/A+AS/99/291) for carbon-rich stars and Kimeswenger (2001, Cat. J/other/RMxAA/37.115) for planetary nebulae. The search was carried out within a radius of 10 arcseconds from the position listed in the original catalogues. File Summary:
