J/A+A/398/141 Vertical distribution of galactic disk stars (Soubiran+, 2003)

Vertical distribution of Galactic disk stars. I. Kinematics and metallicity. Soubiran C., Bienayme O., Siebert A. <Astron. Astrophys. 398, 141 (2003)> =2003A&A...398..141S

I/259) stars have been observed in a 720 square degree field in the direction of the North Galactic Pole with the high resolution echelle spectrograph ELODIE. Absolute magnitudes, effective temperatures, gravities and metallicities have been estimated, as well as distances and 3D velocities. Most of these stars are clump giants and span typical distances from 200pc to 800pc to the galactic mid-plane. This new sample, free of any kinematical and metallicity bias, is used to investigate the vertical distribution of disk stars. Description: Basic data and atmospheric parameters are given for the 387 stars of the NGP sample. File Summary:

Note (1): Individual errors can be retrieved from the Tycho-2 catalog Note (2): Mean error bars are discussed in the paper Note (3): TGMET is an automated method of parametrisation, based on a criterion of minimum distance to an empirical library of reference spectra (Katz et al., 1998A&A...338..151K; Soubiran et al., 1998, Cat. J/A+AS/133/221). Note (4): Uvel is positive towards the Galactic Center Note (5): Notes: SB2 indicates a double lined spectrum, EP indicates an enlarged profile (FWHM>14km/s)
