J/A+A/378/30 ROSAT-BSC galaxy identifications (Zimmermann+, 2001)

Galaxy identifications in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey. Zimmermann H.-U., Boller T., Doebereiner S., Pietsch W. <Astron. Astrophys. 378, 30 (2001)> =2001A&A...378...30Z
ADC_Keywords: X-ray sources ; Galaxies, optical ; Cross identifications Keywords: surveys - X-rays - galaxies: general Description: In a correlation study of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue (RASS-BSC, Cat. <XI/10>) with the Catalogue of Principal Galaxies (PGC, Cat. VII/119) 904 X-ray sources were found that possess possible extragalactic counterparts within a search radius of 100". File table1 contains 1124 optical galaxy entries and 904 relevant X-ray candidates/counterparts from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey. Besides a compilation of X-ray and optical parameters for each source, also the results of an identification screening are given. 547 optical/X-ray correlations have been quoted as reliable identifications. The 904 optical images with X-ray overlay contours (xID_nnn.ps.gz) used in the screening process are added for each user's own judgement. File Summary:

Note (1): The XID number defines the figure number in "images" subdirectory, e.g. XID 23 has the image xID_023.ps Note (2): Origin of parameters: 0 from PGC only, 1 from NED, 11 from NED + (Pietsch et al., 1998A&A...333...48P), 21 from NED + (Bischoff et al., 1999, in Highlights in X-ray Astronomy in honour of Joachim Truemper's 65th birthday, ed. B. Aschenbach, & M. J. Freyberg, MPE Report, 272, 22) Note (3): Whether galaxy is 0 in binary, 2 in group, 3 in cluster of galaxies or near to line-of-sight projection towards cluster of galaxies Note (4): cl? means source belongs to the "suspected cluster sample"
